Bishnoi Movement Step | Khejarli Movement

The following Steps of Bishnoi to save environment:

Bishnoi society was founded by Guru Jambhoji in the year 1542. Jambhoji told 29 rules to the people who joined the Bishnoi sect.

People who follow these 29 rules (20 + 9) are called Bishnoi.

There is also a rule related to environmental protection in 29 rules.

Jambhoji, the founder of the Bishnoi society, gave the sermon of forest protection and protection of wildlife in 29 rules. Which is as follows: "Jeev Daya palani, roonkh leelo ni ghave"

The teachings of Jambhoji had a profound effect on the Bishnois. Bishnois started planting trees in the Thar Desert. Bishnoi people started taking care of them with great vigor. With this, the Bishnois started loving wild animals immensely.

Steps of Bishnoi to save environment:

First Step of bishnoi to save enviroment: The sacrifice of two sisters named Karma and Gaura to save the trees.

Revasadi-Ramasari village is under Jodhpur. Two women, Karama and Gaura, first sacrificed their lives to save the trees.

Second Step of bishnoi to save enviroment : Buchoji Aichra sacrificed to save khejdi tree

Buchoji Aichra was a resident of Polwas village in Nagaur district. In the year 1643 AD, Diwan Ratnasingh tried to cut down trees in Polwas village. Butchoji Achara non-violently opposed it. When Ratnasinh became anxious to cut the tree, Buchoji clung to the tree. Ratn Singh attacked Bachoji with a sword. Butchoji cut down and gave up his life but did not let the tree be cut.

Steps of Bishnoi to save environment: Khejarli Movement

This was the third and most important sacrifice of the Bishnois to save the environment. Khejarli is a village near Jodhpur district. Khejri trees were found in abundance in the village of Khejarli. Most of the houses in Khejdali village belong to the people of Bishnoi society.

Bishnoi is a follower of Guru Jambhoji. The Bishnois have been deeply in love with plants and wildlife.

In 1730, Diwan Girdhar Bhandari needed sticks to cook lime. According to him, there were trees of Khejdali village. So he reached the village of Khejarli with soldiers to cut Khejri trees. On reaching the village of Khejarli, Girdhar ordered the soldiers to cut the trees.

People around gathered hearing the sound of trees cutting down. The Bishnoi people stopped the soldiers from cutting down trees. Diwan became angry on this. And asked soldiers to cut the tree again. Then Bishnoi, man and woman stood clinging to the trees. Girdhar, being merciless, told the soldiers: Those who will not separate from the tree, cut them with the trees.

The soldiers started axing people with trees. First lady Amrita Devi gave her life. After this, 362 more people sacrificed themselves to save the trees. This is the only incident in the world in which a 363 people sacrificed themselves for trees.

After the Khejarli movement, numerous Bishnois have sacrificed to save forests and wildlife.

The first movement of Bishnois started in 1643. Even today, Bishnoi protects the environment from persistence. Therefore Guru Jambhoji is called the first environmentalist. Bishnoi society is the first society in the world which is completely dedicated to environmental protection.
